Phillip Redden, a senior at Morehouse College, is a standout music major and psychology minor from Savannah, Georgia. As a Top Ranking Scholar and a member of the prestigious Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, Phillip exemplifies dedication to both his musical craft and academic excellence. His talent as a saxophonist shines through his performances with the renowned Morehouse House of Funk, where he balances his artistic pursuits with maintaining honor roll status.
Phillip's commitment to leadership is equally impressive. With the encouragement and support of Dr. Chad Hughes, Morehouse’s Director of Bands, Phillip spearheaded a successful initiative to recharter the Iota Theta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, the National Honorary Band Fraternity, in 2023. Leading a group of 19 band members, Phillip's efforts have left a lasting impact on the Morehouse musical community.
Looking ahead, Phillip plans to channel his passion for music into a career in music education, with a particular focus on middle and high school students. His dedication to fostering the next generation of musicians is a testament to his enduring love for both music and teaching.
