Liam Wang, Class of '27

"My name is Liam Wang. I was raised in China, Singapore, and Dubai and I’m a proud member of Morehouse College’s Class of 2027. In 2025, I led a team that won the Goldman Sachs case competition, securing a $250,000 grant for Morehouse. This summer, I’m a Private Equity Summer Analyst at AEA Investors. Morehouse has given me the foundation, connections, and confidence to pursue bold opportunities, and I’m just getting started!"
Top Ten Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Apply
-
Which application should I use?
You can apply through the Common App or directly on the Morehouse website. Talk with your school counselor about which one works best for you — sometimes your school already uses one system, which can make things easier.
-
Am I ready for the deadlines?
Early Decision is November 1, Early Action is December 15, and Regular Decision is February 1. Pick the timeline that fits your goals, and make sure you give your teachers and counselor plenty of time to send in their parts.
-
Do I know what my school needs to send?
Morehouse needs your official transcript and at least one recommendation from your counselor. Check in early to make sure everything is submitted correctly — you don’t want to miss out because of a paperwork delay.
-
Should I include my SAT or ACT scores?
Test scores are optional, so it’s totally up to you. If your scores reflect your strengths, include them. If they don’t show your full potential, leave them out. Morehouse will still look closely at your grades, essays, and leadership.
-
Who should write my recommendation letters?
You’ll need two letters — one from your counselor and one from a teacher or mentor who really knows you. Choose people who can talk about your character, leadership, and work ethic, not just your grades.
-
Do my grades show effort and growth?
Morehouse values students who take challenging classes and keep improving. Think about how your transcript tells your story — are you taking on harder courses, raising your GPA, or showing consistency?
-
How do I show leadership and service?
Morehouse Men lead in the classroom and in the community. Whether it’s a club, church group, sports team, or volunteer work, show how you’ve stepped up and made a difference.
-
Why do I want to attend Morehouse?
Be honest with yourself — what draws you here? Maybe it’s the legacy, the sense of brotherhood, or the opportunity to be surrounded by men striving for excellence. Whatever it is, let that passion shine through in your application.
-
How will I stay organized through the process?
Keep a checklist of deadlines for your essays, recommendations, and financial aid forms. Staying organized helps you avoid last-minute stress and keeps your application on track.
-
What happens after I’m accepted?
Once you’re in, it’s time to confirm your spot, secure housing, and finalize your financial aid. Be ready to celebrate — and then start preparing for your journey at Morehouse.
